Secondment visit by Matheus Sena to Keysight
In February 2020, Matheus Ribeiro Sena, an ESR from Fraunhofer HHI, started his 2 month secondment visit to the WON industrial partner Keysight Technologies Gmb and had a great opportunity to attend the Application Engineer Training event.
Matheus shared his feedback:
“Between the 10th and 14th of February, I participated in the Application Engineer Training at Keysight (Boeblingen, Germany). During this full week of immersion into workshops and demo sessions I was able to have an introductory experience with Keysight’s instruments and softwares for a broad range of optical measurement applications. In this unique opportunity I learned how to operate key devices and programs, such as: OMA (optical modulation analyzer); AWG (arbitrary waveform generator) and IQ Tool. These knowledge will help me in the future analysis and investigations on optical coherent transceivers. Moreover, the interaction with Keysight’s R&D engineers and scientists provided me with an industry-oriented perspective of the Photonics field. As an engineering PhD student, I can certainly say that the knowledge obtained during the Application Engineer Training at Keysight will be of crucial importance not only to the progress of my PhD topic (cognitive transponders for wideband networks) but also to the development of my research career.”
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic the secondment visit is being postponed.
The Fraunhofer Gesellschaft is Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization.
