Summer School_HHI

This summer school provides a set of tutorials, invited talks, and panels delivered by the key experts from academia and industry to address the current challenges maximizing the benefits of AI and ML while considered for optical networks and to discuss the benefits that photonics can bring to AI acceleration tasks.

The event is structured in five days: the first three days focus on the use-cases of AI/ML for optical networks, the fourth day focuses on photonics for AI acceleration, and the fifth day hosts a hackathon covering a few AI/ML tasks for autonomous and zero-touch optical transmission and networking.

Registration fee is 380 EUR and it covers lunches and coffee breaks over the 5 days of the event.

Apply for registration fee waivers

• We are happy to announce that one of the sponsors of the summer school, Huawei, offers 10 registration fee waivers for master and PhD students who would like to join the summer school. The interested applicants should send their CV and 1-page motivation letter to Dr. Behnam Shariati (behnam.shariati@hhi.fraunhofer.de)  by June 30. The applicants are expected to describe why they want to join the summer school and why they need the funding to support their participation. Based on academic excellence and need, 10 applicants will be selected to join the summer school. The decision will be announced on July 20, 2021.

Demo/Poster Application:

• The summer school accepts a limited number of poster and demo applications. The applicants should submit their proposals in IEEE Standard Paper template directly to Dr. Behnam Shariati (behnam.shariati@hhi.fraunhofer.de) . The submitted proposals should not be longer than two pages. The accepted applications will be announced by August 1, 2021.
