Mr. Pratim Hazarika
ESR at Aston University
Short bio:
Pratim started his research career by working in a research and development organization as a strategic technological engineer. He worked in the area of optical sensors and communication for a year and joined Aston University as a Ph.D. student within theWON project in November 2019.
Early-Stage Researcher 8
Title: Broadband Raman amplification for transmission bandwidth extension.
Overview: The PhD will investigate the design, implementation and optimisation of Raman amplifiers for application in wideband transmission systems. One key challenge will be the development of a comprehensive model of multiple-pump and multiple-stage wideband Raman amplifier, incorporating all relevant physical effects and supported by associated experimental work. A second area will be the analysis and potential mitigation of nonlinear and linear noise impairments introduced by wideband Raman amplifiers on high-speed transmission systems.
